Hailey Bieber’s beauty brand, Rhode, has recently settled a trademark dispute with the clothing and lifestyle brand Rhode, ending a legal battle that began in June 2022 in the case of the case is Rhode-NYC, LLC v. Rhodedeodato Corp. et al, 1:22-cv-05185 (SDNY).

The dispute arose when Rhode, known for its apparel and accessories, alleged that Bieber’s use of the name “Rhode” for beauty products caused consumer confusion and infringed on its trademark rights. Hence, Rhode sought a preliminary injunction to halt Bieber’s use of the “Rhode” name during the litigation, citing potential market confusion exacerbated by Bieber’s celebrity status and social media presence. However, the court ruled in Bieber’s favor, finding insufficient evidence to support Rhode’s claims of trademark infringement.

As a counter blast, Bieber’s legal team pursued the invalidation of Rhode’s trademark registrations, arguing inconsistencies in Rhode’s use of the “Rhode” mark across different product categories. Rhode subsequently amended its trademark registrations, focusing on specific goods and classes to align with its current business activities.

However, on 03rd July 2024 both parties agreeing to drop their claims and agreed for a settlement and Looking forward, both brands are expected to coexist in their respective markets, with Rhode continuing its collaborations and expansion into new product categories, and Bieber’s brand poised for global growth with upcoming product launches.
